If you’re interested in the dynamic world of International Relations, conferences are a great way to keep your knowledge up-to-date.

Here are 5 conferences to attend if you’re interested in International Relations:

1. The London Conference on International Law

When? 3-4 October 2019

Where? London, UK

This year’s conference theme is ‘Engaging with International Law’.

What’s the use of international law and how do we engage with it in today’s society? In recent years, the focus seems to have been on disengagement. Yet meanwhile, international courts and tribunals are busier than ever before, and domestic courts are increasingly engaged with international legal issues. Similarly, international law features more than ever before in the conduct of public life and debate.

The conference will bring together international law academics, judges, practitioners, business leaders, and other stakeholders to explore how States and other actors engage with international law.

5. 2020 Salzburg Conference in Interdisciplinary Poverty Research

When? 2-3 July 2020

Where? Salzburg, Austria

This conference’s theme for 2020 is ‘Health and Poverty’.

Health and poverty are intertwined in both rich and poor countries. Poverty not only leads to a range of diseases and developmental disorders, but people with health problems and disabilities are more often poor and socially excluded than the rest of the population.

As well as searching for causal links between health and poverty at local and global levels, other important questions arise, such as: How can we ensure adequate health care for poor people? What role do gender, age, sexual orientation, cultural and ethnic identity and social status play in the context of poverty and health?

Organised by the University of Salzburg’s Centre for Ethics and Poverty Research, the conference will feature keynote talks exploring this theme, as well as related talks in panels and roundtable discussions.
